Vote for Better

I advocate for a High School in Wasaga Beach - sooner than later!

I am committed to the creation of a beachfront to be proud of.

A carefully developed beachfront will reinvigorate our tourism industry.

I will support Wasaga Beach as a business-friendly environment, ultimately creating more and better jobs!

About Ellen

At heart, Ellen Timms is about inclusion and making opportunities for people to participate - be it in community activities and events, business opportunities, or political decision-making.

This is evidenced through her many years of community involvement and development volunteering and serving on committees and boards, running her own businesses and then managing a business improvement association for 18 years, and working in health care and for local government.

Ellen is a visionary who sees how things could be better and collaborates with others to make it happen. Her strength is her passion and caring, which motivates others to work together for the greater good.

In the past few years, she worked as the Development Officer for the Town of Wasaga Beach and her current position is as Member Advocacy and Administration for Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce connecting with the business community. In her former job, she was able to usher in the new Tourism Brand and the Tourist Destination Management Plan (TDMP), which included the approved relocation of the Visitor Centre to Nancy Island and the creation of a Tourism Advisory Committee.

Ellen and her husband, Dave Timms, bought their home in Wasaga Beach in 2006 and are now full-time residents. They are raising their granddaughter Abi, after the death of her mother in 2017. She is in grade seven at Worsley Elementary School. As such, Ellen is aware of the issues facing families with young children including the lack of a high school, overcrowded classrooms and long bus rides for little ones. Ellen is concerned for her community and actively participates with clubs and groups to organize functions that raise funds for charities and address issues such as food insecurity in Wasaga Beach.
